Transparent glass particles are a commonly used abrasive in sandblasting processes. With their unique physical properties (such as hardness, transparency, particle uniformity, etc.), they play multiple key roles in surface treatment, as follows:
The hardness of transparent glass particles is moderate, higher than that of most metal oxide layers, paint coatings and stains on non-metallic surfaces (such as rust, scale and old paint). Under the drive of high-pressure gas flow, particles strike the surface of the workpiece at high speed, which can remove impurities through mechanical impact force without overly damaging the base material (such as metal, glass, stone, etc.). It is particularly suitable for cleaning scenarios where the original structure of the base material needs to be preserved.
After sandblasting, uniform fine pits will form on the surface of the workpiece. The sharp corners of transparent glass particles or the rounded shape after grinding treatment can control the depth and density of the pits. This rough surface can significantly enhance the adhesion of subsequent coatings such as paint, plating, and glue, preventing them from peeling off. It is commonly seen in the surface pretreatment stage of automotive manufacturing and mechanical processing.
